Water in the garden
Water has featured prominently in garden designs for thousands of years; hardly surprisingly--it can captivate the senses, creating visually stimulating light and movement and soothing splashing and bubbling sounds. In its many forms, water can be used as the focus of a new garden or to add an exciting fresh dimension to an existing one. This book encompasses every aspect of water in the garden, and is full of ideas for incorporating water into garden design. Following an early fascination with water life, James Allison built his first pond at the age of 14 and soon developed an avid interest in water plants, goldfish, and koi. This led to studies in biology at Durham University and in aquatic biology at London University. He now works as manager of the pond section of one of the UK's leading aquatic specialist firms. He has lectured on water gardening and fishkeeping and is a regular contributor to the acquatic press.
